My foray into the Internet happened in the early 1990s, when I obtained a shell account and was able to do some basic file transfers. In late 1995, I set up my first Web page using CompuServe's Home Page Wizard. I quickly switched to editing the HTML directly. Wanting to do more, I set up my own server and started developing CGI programs. Now I host several sites for non-profit organizations, and have designed sites for clients.
With several computers running Linux at my disposal, I can develop Web applications that may use a variety of servers, e.g. a CGI program running on the Web server may retrieve information from a database server running on a different machine. Your applications might be developed using one or more of the following programming languages or systems:
My servers run 24 hours a day, every day of the year, with a constant connection to the Internet. This allows me to serve a prototype site for your application. Such a site is useful for evaluation, demonstration and proof-of-concept purposes. I will not make any guarantees regarding availabilty, but I can say that my main server has not been shut down or even rebooted in over two years. Still, your actual production site should be hosted by an ISP.
